PRP Lookbooks: Project Happy Holidays

I can’t believe it’s finally here!!! Two months of crazy, learning all kinds of new things about the PDF pattern world, and making friends with more incredible designers in this community have culminated in the release of this fantastic lookbook, full of holiday cheer end endless inspiration! Ready for some details from my *three* collections?! Let’s dive in!

For this collaboration, I got to work with Raspberry Creek Fabrics as a sponsor. Diana curates such cute holiday fabric lines, and was fabulous to work with! She even printed a few prints on different base fabrics than are offered on the website, which opened up some cute opportunities! I ran out of time to photograph all of them for the lookbook, so keep your eyes peeled for some more winter outfits featuring Raspberry Creek!

So I have to confess that that the whole holiday theme for this lookbook was my idea. 😁 I love going all out for holidays, (someday I’ll show you my Nevermore inspired Halloween set up 😉) with Christmas being my absolute favorite! We also wanted a collection that could apply to any holiday, in any hemisphere. So we were looking for patterns that would cover a range of holiday events: fancy dresses and pants for formal parties/religious services, special pjs/loungewear for hanging at home with the family, coordinating outfits for family photos since many people send holiday cards this time of year. Most of these patterns are also loaded with options, as you can see by the range of looks by all the contributors! I had so many ideas, but I finally settled on three occasions that we need holiday clothes for in my family: fancy Christmas dresses for church and going to see the Nutcracker, Christmas morning pjs, and a photoshoot at a Christmas tree farm, which visits were a staple of my childhood. 😊

First up: Christmas pjs! Since we took these photos, my kids have lived in these. I used Susana’s Jingle Joggers for all their pants, and a variety of tops. We went on the RCF website and I let the kids choose their print. We got on the santas and the gingerbread on the 12 oz Cotton Spandex French Terry, and the sage tie dye on sweatshirt knit, which has a soft brushed back and minimal 2 way stretch, so I sized up on those patterns.

And of course there was a meltdown from child number 2 because her jammies were not fuzzy on the inside. 🙄 Never mind that she got a pj set AND a nightshirt and super fuzzy robe. Anyone else turning your kids into little fashion monsters by making them custom clothes? Just me? 😝

Patterns on my 10-year-old are:

  • Jingle Joggers: size no pockets, elastic waist and ankle cuffs (cut larger because the fabric doesn’t have much stretch)
  • Chromium Hoodie: size 8/12 length, full length with vented waist and lined hood

He has literally worn this from the second it comes out of the wash, until it smells so much I refuse to let him sit near me (10-year-old boy stank is REAL 😫)

Patterns on my 7-year-old daughter, we have:

  • Yawn Sleep Tee: tee length, no pocket
  • Jingle Joggers: yoga waistband, inseam pockets, hemmed leg
  • Yawn sleep tee: full length, pocket
  • Cedar Coat and Cardigan: un-lined cardigan, pockets and belt tie

We had so much fun collaborating on these looks! I gave her full control, and we looked at the patterns together, chose which options she wanted, chose fabrics, and she watched the baby and worked on her hand embroidery while I sewed.

As soon as the fabric arrived, my 4-year-old was very concerned about when he could wear his “cookie jammas”. Because he was going to be a Christmas ninja. And you can’t do that without cookie pajamas. Obviously. This kid 😆

Patterns used:

  • Lemon Tee: size 3 with 5 length, short sleeve, no color blocking
  • Jingle Joggers: Size 3 with 4 length, yoga waist, slash pockets, hemmed leg
