Project Run and Play: Pantone Party

I LOVE monochrome looks. I know, I know, my love of prints runs deep; but ever since I started designing clothes for my paper dolls at age 8, I keep coming back to the idea of an entire outfit in one shade! Pantone must be in cahoots with my 7-year-old, because her favorite color (after leopard print 😆) is purple!

When we were looking for fabrics in January, days after the color was announced, there were not many options in shops for periwinkle. But in just one month, offerings have exploded and there are all kinds of super cute prints all over! I ended up going with things from my stash. Since lavender is a much less common color for fabric shops to carry, I always make sure to snatch it up when I run across it, especially since it has been her favorite color for the past 4 years!

For our first look, I used some tried and true PRP patterns :

Chromium hoodie: cropped length, banded neckline, with a bishop sleeve hack! (tutorial coming soon!) // Fabric is Halloween Star in Lavender by Erin Ann Designs, printed on sweatshirt knit by Carriage House Printery
Evergreen skirt: half height waistband, hip length top (added 6 extra inches to width for extra twirl), short 1st tier // Fabric is lavender seersucker from Fabric.com

Super pumped to find these Very Peri stockings at Little Stocking Co! They really make the outfit! 🤩🤩🤩

Our second look is less peri than I would have picked, but she has been begging for me to do something with this fabric since it arrived shortly after Christmas. And then, when looking through the PRP pattern catalog for a high-low skirt, I re-discovered Abby’s Watercolor Dress, with it’s gorgeous ruffle! It was a match made in heaven! I teach a sewing class at our homeschool co-op, and all the girls chose it for their pattern after seeing it hanging in my sewing room, waiting to be photographed. 😉

I added the short sleeves from Abby’s Spin and Twirl Dress, because I wanted a more simple top, to really let the skirt shine.

The skirt is really a showstopper! So glad I discovered this sweet pattern! The Fabric is another of Erin Anne Design, called Valentines Bouquet in Periwinkle. I had it printed on Heavyweight Double Brushed Poly at Carriage House Printery.

I’m loving all these Very Peri makes!! And little Miss Seven has a whole stack of lavender fabric that I’m apparently using for all projects until it’s gone 😆 So I guess my Pantone party isn’t over quite yet! 😉
